Kentuck's a la cARTe, August 2010

My first experience as a demonstrating artist was gained at one of the Kentuck's a la cARTe events, on August 21, 2010. A la cARTe series is organized by the Kentuck Museum Association. On the 3rd Saturday each month they engage the local community and feature artist demonstrations, kids' activities, and regional cuisine. In August the West Alabama Fiber Guild demonstrated fiber arts there, and I, as a Guild member, took part in the celebrations.

It was fun, apart from the baking heat in the middle of the day in Alabama summer. Sticky fingers didn't go well with tatting and thread crochet for some reason. The nice part, however, was a white tent overhead, sprinkling water in the middle of the Kentuck Courtyard, friendly visitors, organizers, and a company of my son Sasha and our fellow guild members. Sasha is also an enthusiastic 8 years old guild member, as well as a big help.

Here we are, after the two hour event, a bit sweaty.
